Adrian Boult Hall
We designed, built and installed a demountable system of bars, curtain tracks and masking legs, borders and travellers that turned this concert hall into a black box theatre space. We also built a demountable pit rail to enclose an orchestra pit.
The whole system could be broken down for storage in a small space when not in use.

Ludlow Assembly Rooms
We provided a masking system of 4 pairs of suspended black flats, which can be swivelled flat against the wall, or pulled on into the space on short tab tracks and turned to any angle. We also provided a pair with doors in for the proscenium.
The flats are 5m by 1.4m box steel frames covered in black serge and are suspended centrally on a bearing. The bearing is attached to a bogey that runs on a 2m length of tab track. This allows for up–and–down or on–and–off masking, or any combination in between. Because the serge is stretched on flats, it always looks neat.

Kerry Village Hall and Trefeglwys Memorial Hall
Kerry Village Hall is a typical village hall with a flat auditorium and an enclosed raised stage at one end. We provided masking for the stage, and advised on a simple portable lighting system.
The wing masking consists of three pairs of 2m wide ungathered serge legs attached to tracks. This can be set as on–and–off masking, or pulled back against the walls when not required. Upstage we fitted a series of flat black legs that could either be joined with velcro to form a full black with a crossover behind, or gaps could be left for entrances. When fully set, the masking forms a black box.
Trefeglwys Memorial Hall is a much larger and newer hall which has a demountable stage and a PA. We advised on, designed and supervised the installation of a flexible lighting system. This includes fixed lighting bars and installed dimmers and is designed to allow for the flexibility required in the hall, where the stage is erected in different areas of the room, and users include wedding parties, concerts, eisteddfodau, school plays and other events.

Demountable Projection Room for Hay Festival
The Hay Festival needed a soundproof projection room in its cinema venue. The requirement was for a structure that could be easily dismantled and stored, so that it could be reused in subsequent years. We built a room 16 ft by 12 ft with three glazed projection and viewing windows, a roof and a double door soundproof entry. The photo shows the front wall of the projection room behind the external sound desk.
The wall units were 8 ft by 4 ft panels consisting of two sheets of skin ply sandwiching 3 inch thick rockwool insulation. The panels were connected together by joining strips. The roof was similarly constructed from 12 ft by 4 ft panels. The whole construction was soundproof, lightweight, and broke down into a pile of flat panels that were easily stored and reassembled each year.

Carad, Rhayader
We provided black corner masking for the studio space. Flat serge curtains are fastened to a curved track suspended away from the wall. This blends in with existing masking to give a corner stage space for gigs etc.
